Filippo Pozzato’s Ridley Damocles

Preparing for the hardest of the cobbled classics, Katusha had the option of both modified Ridley X-Fire cross frames coupled with its lower end road forks providing more mud clearance or the riders could choose to run their road race frames ridden so far in the northern classics.

With the predominantly dry conditions Pozzato ran his rather standard looking but custom Domacles frame. His mechanics where keen to tell us this was a custom frame using a top tube with a length of 58cm and seat tube length of 56cm centre to centre.

The front end is finished with Deda components, and Pozzato uses Deda’s lightest stem in the form of the alloy Zero100 in his favoured 14cm length.

Seating is taken care of with a non-production sample of the Prologo Nago Evo TR saddle that looks to be fairly new to him.

Vredestein supply tyres to the team but these definitely aren’t from that stable and are actually rebranded Veloflex Roubaix 24mm tubulars.

More interestingly is Pozzato’s choice of wheels, following the trend of carbon wheels in the cobbled classics but not deep section, he chose the Campagnolo Neutrons. The groupset is kept simple, Campagnolo Record 11.
