When you have a saddle that is as good as the Toupe it is almost impossible to improve upon it. But Specialized found there was demand for a gel version to add even more comfort.

All the Body Geometry design signatures are present, with a hollow titanium rail, so the package looks good. Even with the added gel padding, the ideal position for the sit bones remains where it was on the original Toupe, so it should provide a similar level of comfort to the original version.

Unfortunately the added padding elsewhere has also meant that the saddle has a more rounded shape across its width and nose. Rather than sit on the saddle as designed, it feels as though you are sitting into it instead, and we felt it was not as comfy as the original. We think Specialized has lost the flatter shape of the original Toupe that made it stand out.
