World and European team pursuit champion Katie Archibald quite fancies herself as a cycling journalist. And a rapper. And a giraffe...

The season has begun really well for the Pearl Izumi Sports Tours International team and it’s not just individuals having good starts — the full team has. With the World Track Championships being in February, it’s been a quick turnaround with lots of racing so far.

Glasgow has been the aim for the past 18 months. To win a Commonwealth medal in my hometown would be amazing. While track has been my aim, it’s also good to be out on the road.

I would be a journalist if I wasn’t a cyclist or at the least something writing-based. I would sneak into a cycling magazine rather than news — it is way more interesting.

If I was physically able to I would be a rapper, but I’m not able to because I’m not that good! I’d base my style around [hip hop rapper] Scroobius Pip.

I have a tattoo of Scroobius Pip, actually. I have three in total, another one on my back and arm. The one on my back has a quote saying: ‘old age springs wisdom’. The arm tattoo is of a children’s story.

My family are obsessed with Rihanna at the moment. I do like rap but I like a mixture of music as well. I go through frequent music phases; it’s currently London Grammar and Beyonce — happy background music.

People who can speak in public confidently, or rap, is what I really admire. It’s the thing I am most jealous of.

I have a long list of guilty pleasures. I’m definitely quantity over quality in terms of food. I like quality, but give me quantity and I’m all over it.

Tesco sell something called Crispy Seedy Nutty Tasty Bites and I love that. Everyone should try it.

I’d definitely be a giraffe if I was an animal: trying to be all lovely and elegant but in fact too big. They’re quite cool animals, aren’t they?
