Bath - Bradford-on-Avon cyclists
      #25473 - 01/07/2008 13:29

I'm coming to the UK (from France) to see the relatives and wonder if there are any bike clubs or cyclosportives in the Bath- Bradford-on-Avon area? I shan't have my good bike with me but might be able to borrow one, and after spending 10 days with the family will be desperate to get out cycling. Can anyone help?

Hi frenchwheels

Shame - you've just missed the David Duffield Challenge (June 1), which runs in the area.

Your best bet would be to trip along to one of the Bath bike shops - I'd recommend Avon Valley Cyclery (http://www.bikeshop.uk.com/), situated just behind Bath Spa rail station or John's Bikes in Walcot Street (http://www.johnsbikes.co.uk/)

If you do hire a bike, you could do worse than riding along the Kennet & Avon canal towpath from Bath to Bradford-on-Avon, or take a trip from Bath to Bristol on the original Sustrans cycle route, which follows the route of an old railway.

Both of these route do, however, miss out Bath's famous hills.

Have fun!

Nigel
