Endto End UK maps

Hello,
My friend & I are planning to cycle JOhn O Groats to Lands End in May 2009, we have a brief route planned out, but would like to know if there are any free and easy to use route maps available on the internet, what would be good would be a tool to show inclines for the route.
Anyone else done this route or has any tips, please let me know.
