I went to Tuscany, near Lucca, a few years ago, without the bike and the roads looked superb for riding, there were plenty of cyclists on them despite the ridiculous heat at the time. There were plenty of rolling, hilly and occasionally flat bits.
The car drivers were appalling to each other but really respected the needs of cyclists, it seemed.
