I used to do a lot of early morning training, often in the dark. A strong coffee was all I ever had , or could stomach. Not sure that's the best way to go but it meant I could get the miles in before starting several, early starting, jobs. I didn't get ravenously hungry until about 10 am. I no longer do early morning training/ commuting but never eat before 10 am. It's probably something psychological rather than physiological.
