Beginners Question

Hi there. I'm a new member to this forum and fairly new to cycling. I did do quite a lot of cycling about 4-5 years ago but am now totally unfit and looking to get back on the bike (I guess I've been drawn in by The Tour de France!!)

My question is one about circulation or more specifically pins and needles!! I get pins and needles in my willy and between my willy and my bum!! (Good job you can ask these questions anonymously!!) I find I have to stand up on the peddles after about 5 miles to releive it. Sometimes when I get home and get off the bike it really kicks in!! What could this be - too big saddle? Saddle wrongly positioned? Saddle to high? or low?

I also get pins and needles in my feet too and they almost feel numb. MY SPD's are the right size for me and they are quite hard inside - should I put a soft insole in?

Any ideas greatly appreciated.
