Breathing

My natural way of breathing during big efforts (eg TT's) is fast and shallow. I am fairly sure I would benefit from getting more oxygen inside of me (!) and was wondering if anyone has tips on either exercises to improve my respiration system in general, or methods used on the bike to improve or control breathing. Is it a question of concentrating hard on taking big breaths?

Also - has anyone used Powerbreathe?

Thanks in advance!

Paul

Re: Breathing

I know a lot of people use a product called power breath. A lot of people with asthma use it

Re: Breathing

I read somewhere that big deep breaths are not good for time trialling, gives the body too much to do, shorter sharper breaths are better

Re: Breathing

Powerbreathe works very well as I suffer from HayFever.
I believe you can also get them on prescription now . Maybe the Salbutomal is illegal route would work on a friendly doc.
