Anyone else do this one? Overall, an excellent event. My only real complaint concerns the 45 minute wait to cross the start line, as riders were set off in groups of 100ish at 4 minute intervals. I'm sure some waited longer. Maybe this was done to appease the Police and Mr and Mrs Sunday Motorist. The course is a tough one, with 2300m of climbing, and a surprise really steep bit leaving Neath. The section through the Brecon Beacons would be hell on earth in bad weather. Thanks to the Cardiff riders for the 30mph tow to the finish. Feed stations were plentiful and well spaced, with High5 energy drink or water, plus bananas and small cakes. Plain bread rolls or bagels would be nice. The showers at the finish are superb. The weather was perfect - for me, anyway. Warm enough and dry, with light winds. Great day, great ride. Would do it again. |

Sounds good, might consider it for next year. That wait at the start sounds pretty tedious, though. |

2008 was my first Dragon and I fully agree with Tonybv9's comments. What a fantastic event, excellant roads throughout, brilliant organisation and the views were the best ever. Plenty of long climbs, long decents and a fair bit of flt terrain as well, something for everyone. Couldn't fault the event, I'd recommend it to anyone. |

Hi, I also did the Dragon on Sunday, I agree with the above comments in that the only downside was the wait at the beginning. My Polar made it 2500m of climbing. |

Quote: Given your other post regarding your Polar, it was probably only 1250m of climbing!!

Totally agree, absolutely top class organisation. Only did the short route but the climbing was fantastic, feeds were good, motorcycle traffic officers patrolling the whole route were really great too. Even with the wait at the start, the banter was good and the weather made it perfectly bearable. Definately be back next year :-) |

It was noticeably well marshalled and well organised. We queued for ages to get through to the start but it was just pleasant to have a chat and chillout before the ride. I only did the short route but that climb in Neath was a demon. My special thanks to the person who sited the feed station where they did! My not so special thanks to the old bloke in the Honda who tried to take me and about 6 other riders out. 'Look, see, hesitate, stop, pull out anyway!!' I'll definitely do it again! And it was nice to see the ladies loo queuue was significantly shorter than the men's queuue. Albeit it full of men. |
