There is a report from pete-main and a bit by myself on the southern upland sportive post on the rides section, Don't bash the route too much, it bites back!

ah yes....didn't think to check that. as for pete_main's response upon seeing the talla climb, i still think that every time!!

Talla was nasty but early on in the route so plenty power there, The climb to the radar station is evil at over 100 miles in, what gearing are you using, I seen a lot of folk with compacts taking a walk!

i think it's normally a 39-14 i do it in. did the bealach na ba last week, found it challenging but not as difficult as i expected, was disappointed to have to go down to lowest gear for the final steep bit, was hoping to stay above 2nd for the whole climb....will just need to try it again another time.

The Bealach wears you down with that long steady drag which looks easy, then when you hit the hairpins at the top there's no fuel left in the tank!

"i think it's normally a 39-14 i do it in."
39-14 to go up 3 miles on a 20% hill!! thats mad, lots of cyclists including some club guys were walking with 34-26!

Re: Mr Bfergie

the long drag really does wear you down but i found the hairpins quite easy, the expectation of them being the steepest section made them seem like a dawdle.

might help if i think before i type, can't even use the time in my defence, it was only 12:09.
what i really meant was a 39-21. 23 on a bad day but have never broken out the 25 on it. (silly bugger counted the wrong was last time )
