I have been a cyclist most of my life at the age of 49 now. About 3 weeks ago i lost all my stamina struggling on club rides stopping for a break up hills which i used to fly up had to cancel races and so on. I am trying hard to get back in to it but struggling from 200 miles a week to 50 dont know whats happened to me. Anyone have any ideas.

Well, I'd guess that that's the root cause - perhaps you should cut yourself a bit of slack to get over what must be a very difficult time for you. I think in your place, I'd be worried if it didn't affect my performance! Take it easy for a bit and let the form come back when it's ready - don't force it.

See the doc and ask for a blood test. Any change in resting heart rates etc?

hard to comment for sure - but I suspect the bereavement is going to be a major factor - even if subconsciouly
If it persist then I think a check up is in order.
at 49 the body behaves in unusual ways and it can be very frustrating when it doesn't do what you expect - what it used to do. It can happen quite suddenly much to peoples amazement - the equivalant of the menopause in women. Your recent loss may have triggered this too.

Take it easy for a while or you will physicaly suffer more. I tried to keep going during a very stressful time, kept the same routine worked as hard as poss, problem was I needed a rest due to the stressful time our family was experiencing. I ended up with serious depression and it has taken me 8-9 months to get back on the bike properly. Enjoy some light cycling, don't push yourself either on the bike or in every day life. All the best
