Maybe it's my imagination, but since getting into cycling I'm sure I get more head rushes
Not a problem whilst riding, but in general around the house I get light-headed when I stand up, run up stairs, etc... I think this is getting more common as I do more and more cycling, but maybe I'm reading to much into it? I have stepped up my frequency, distances and performace recently, if that makes a difference...
Any thoughts? Thank you!

a suggestion if a can make one- that might be a blood pressure issue here sly - there may be a difference in your lying and standing blood pressure. a visit to your gp will help and he/she might suggest having a 24 hour bp machine attached or just do a few simple bp measurements in his surgury. it will be worthing checking this out- you can feel at ease afterwards

Sly, I experience a similar thing post-orgasm. Sometimes I just slump, other times I go down like a sack of bricks. Mrs Cid has to duck for cover. Usually she is in the same room. Luckily its only happening 3 or 4 times a day at the moment and I come round pretty quick. No trouble on the bike though.

So what you're saying is I need to stop running up the stairs directly after climax? NEVER!!!! THAT'S HOW I CELEBRATE IT!!!! Like Rocky on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art!

Someone just told me it could be that I'm not including any sprint training in my rides - doing too much steady state riding. This would make the heart like a big baloon, good at pumping lots of blood round the body, but not too good at coping with sudden bursts of high intensity action.
It is true that I tend to do longish rides at a constant pace (except for lots of hills!), and I don't really feel inclined to do sprint training as I'm not a racer so it has never been particularly obvious for me to do it.
If I incorporate some sprints into my riding, it will thicken the heart wall apparently.
Might have to start doing those vomit runs!

When I did a lot of training, and I mean a lot some years ago, I used to wake up ok, but about 1/2 an hour later I would start getting a slight headache and then become quite light headed for about an hour until I went out on the bike.
It would disappear immediately but I always wondered if it was psychosematic, perhaps I didn't want to work so hard.
But... Its all coming back to me now! When I was at secondary school, we had to sit on the floor every morning for assembly, and at the end we all had to stand up. I used to be close to fainting most days, and would bump into fellow pupils (all boys) who were experiencing the same light headedness. Someone suggested it was down to low blood pressure, but I don't know, I seemed to grow out of it.
