sorry to hear that. I had a double hernia once but fortunatly they both healed themselves but it took some time as i recall.
What you do not want to do is tear your repair by overstressing the muscles and ligaments locally but you do need to keep your muscles toned and limit athrophy

This is where the NHS lets us down badly I feel.
You should have been referred to a Physiotherapist either by your Dr or the Hospital.
Your Physio should have considerable first hand experience of others with your problem and be able to assess you and create an individual program for you to bring you back to full strength and mobility.
My advice would be to go to your Dr explain that you are a keen sportsman/athelete and need a referral to a physio for a program of recovery training. Dr's are lazy B's Grrrr

I had a hernia repair a few years back. The doc said lady luck was not on my side. I had a severely bruised penis and swollen testicles - which needed much support. I could hardly face a supermarket for eight weeks - every trolley felt like it was heading for my groin and I was walking with a stick

Hi

I had hernia surgery and was back on the turbo after two weeks. The main thing is not to strain the muscles so no lifting heavy weights. I was back to full blown riding after four weeks.

cheers and good luck

i had one done a few years ago when i went for first exam he told me i would probably need both sides doing but he explained why it happens so when i got home i started holding them in and doing gentle leg lifts to strenghten muscles. when i went back for op 6 weeks later he said i only needed one doing and that was not has dad as he 1st thought so i told him what i had been doing and he said keep it up i started again about 2weeks after op do a few every day now.
