USA Coast 2 Coast 2008
      #25800 - 03/07/2008 20:27

Back in the summer of 2006, myself and my good friend cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats to raise funds for a series of community centres in South East London. As soon as we finished, whilst savouring a bottle of Newcastle Brown in that awful boozer in John O'Groats, we were mulling over what we could do next. Of course 1,000 miles in 8 days was hard, but we felt that there was more in the tank. We talked about a number of options but as soon as America was mentioned, there was only one winner.

Our plan is cover an average of 200 miles a day. Obviously they'll be days where we struggle, but there will also be good days and so we aim to complete the total distance in 15 days.

We made a conscious decision early in our planning that this would be a self financed trip. Therefore we are currently gathering as much sponsorship as we possibly can. Hence starting this thread here!!!

The aim of our trip is not only to raise funds for both of our chosen charities, but also awareness of their work. The charities are the Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign and Leukemia Research. My mum died of Cancer and was so well treated by the Marsden, Andy's mum died of Myeloma hence
Leukemia Research, so obviously these two charities both have a huge meaning for the both of us. Please take a little bit of time to visit our wesite where you'll find details of our justgiving pages and all the other aspects of the trip including blogs and links etc.

You'll also be able to leave us your messages of support, a piece of witty banter or maybe just something risible!

If anyone out there has got any useful tips to get us through it (other than get an engine!), we'd be grateful to hear them - we're off on 12th July!
