No way would I be seen dead cycling with a guy in a pink tu-tu!! You might get a bit of a chill in North Wales too...
Personally we like the Gwydir forest for cycling - south from Conwy along the B5106 to Llanwrwst and then West into the forest to LLyn Geiryonydd, circle back to Betws-y-Coed ,a bit steep, then back along the B5106. There's loads of scope for mountain biking here too.
Depends what you're after though. This ride is just a bit of a potter along the quiet back lanes, rather than a long challenging ride along the main roads and over the passes. Lots of cattle grids. Maybe you'll spot a sheep rolling over one!
I see that Hinault's been your way recently. Did you get to see him??

Of course not - you'd be in a coffin, not on a bike!

Hey, I made a few suggestions. I know that you got them from your email. Sorry your post got hijacked - hope I wasn't part of that. Mind, I find sometimes the hijacks are interesting - nice to see where things go to from their start. Equates sometimes with cycling, sometimes i take a few turns I never expected to do, in the spur of the moment. They can be interesting. I think you'll enjoy the area. If you want challenging rides, it's got them. If it's a leisurely ride around there are those routes too.
It can be a breezy area - even in summer

scouser i live on an island, its bloody windy ere every day!! and twa the Hinault ride was kept a little low key over here, although i knew he was coming i only found out when after he'd gone, BUT interesting stuff about Jersey being recced bout a tour start, i always thought a prologue was a bloody good idea as we have a perfect road for it which was used for the prologue of the tour de bretagne ealier this year, which was brought here with poss a look into the possibilities of the tour coming here too. then it would be a short hop of several miles over to st malo for stage 1. as for Jersey staging a full stage as mentioned in the rag, i doubt it, its only 45 miles around jersey, and althougfh it would be a tough hilly race, ithink the none cycling fraternity would seriously struggle to accept any road closures. i'll keep this forum posted on any local news.
