Hi,
I know I'm fit having recently completed the Etape du Tour but at 13 1/2 stone I'm not the lightest and I'm fed up with hauling all that weight up the big hills. Does anyone have any tips on the best way to lose weight - I'm aiming for a stone - without affecting performance.

Eat a higher proportion of protein - your body uses more energy per calorie to process it!

I went to slimming world and lost 3 1/2 stone in 4 months.
this was before I took up riding, its great if you don't mind sitting for an hour with a bunch of fat women!
now I have a rule that i dont go above 12 stone although i'm struggling at the moment.
i'm riding more, watching what I eat and can't loose it, mind you, my times are quicker and my ave heart rate lower, so I shouldn't grumble.

13.5 stone? There are pros heavier than you fella - what matters is how much is fat and how much is useful weight.

you have finished the etape the tour and you are worried about weight loss - you must be doing someting right - start a weight loss programme without the bike involved..muscle weights more than fat..less pressure then...some of the snacks we have on the bikes have too many calories and we proberly dont need them - my body is not like an athlete( my mrs says so!).
just finish that beer and you will be fine( i am the same weight but power output is improving!)
