I have a moderate condition in my left leg - more what I would describe a as a prominent vein. The Doc' thinks it's a varicose vein which doesn't need surgery but which would benefit from compression stockings - anyone any experience / advice?

Wife had 'em. Basically if it doesn't hurt forget it. If it's a problem get it seen to. Beware of knocking it on anything, a bruised varicose vein can turn nasty.

A pair of Millar's socks might do the job On a more serious note, have you thought about trying balms. A friend of mine used a balm whilst waiting for an appointment to have his veins lasered. I just rang him to see if he could remember what he used, all he can remember was that it was something from a health shop. Might be worth popping into a health shop to see if they can recommend something natural; or failing that see what the chemists say. Some people poo pa natural remedies so you'll have to make your own mind up as to whether they might work or not. Best of luck mate.
