Seriously, try and ride the course a few times before the competition, find the best lines and learn how to gauge your effort. It's essential that you don't "blow" before the end.

Did my first club TT a few weeks ago. Ride at your own pace and enjoy it. That way you'll set youself your own time to beat next week. My first one was 9 miles in 24:56 (is that bad?) Now i've got a PB of 23:00! The main thing is to enjoy, the only person you'll want to beat is you!! Let us know how you get on!

That's about 27:42 for an equivalent 10 (assuming you could manage the extra mile at race pace!), so not at all bad for a first effort.
