A gold medal has been along time coming for Nicole and wasn't it worth waiting for!! Read the final move to perfection; and what a performance from Pooley and Laws.

Well done to the GB Team and at last Cooke got what she deserved (in a good way!). Fantastic riding. Brought a tear to my eye when she crossed the line first!

It looked like she had blown it! Her style is tatty, but it was fun to shout at her via the medium of TV, and we will be treated to the final sprint repeated over and over by the BBC now - excellent. Well done Nicole!

I'm sure my thumping of the living room carpet and screaming at the TV was the deciding factor - even though I was watching a recording!!! As Churchill would have said OHHHHH Yeeesss!!!

Superb performance, she was awesome. Pooley and Laws performed superb as well. Nicole deserved that and was excellent watching the BBC having to take notice. Bet they will treat her differently come the sports personality this year!

I saw it live and thought she'd blown it with starting the sprint so early.... it was so good to see her win the gold.
I'm suprised the BBC didn't send out Adrian Chiles to interview her afterwards

I thought she'd buggered up the sprint, and I knew she'd won !

And who says electronic gears won't work in the wet? If they didn't fail in those conditions they will work anywhere!

Ah the quality of Shimano, imagine if those Italians had made them, Italian electronics don't have the best reliability in the wet...Alfa/ Fiat and a puddle...bad combination!

What's the point of putting the word "spoiler" in the title when you've told everyone the result...in the title?!
Great result for Nicole, brilliant last 2 laps from the Brits! Shame Nicole isn't more media-savvy - not taking her racing shades off for the first post-race interview (very unprofessional, I thought), the long pauses and nervous giggles...ouch! Not taking anything away from her though, to get Britain's first gold in the games and Wales's first for 26 years is WONDERFUL!

interesting to see that smokin joe comments on the 'cycle chat' forum about this topic under a title written by someone who actually knows what spoiler means

It's an in joke.
Can anyone seriously tell me they didn't want to know the result till the Beeb showed a re-run of the race at midnight on boxing day?

And steve j.
Its not really an in joke, though quite funny.
There is no spoiler thing here, Nicole won gold! We all saw it.
(Or we shouldn't look at cycling forums if we dont want to know the result).
When will you learn?

While at a post race presentation yesterday (Sunday) there was a general "buzz" about Nicole's result. A few minutes later a "Gold for Nicole" poster went up behind the serving area. Cue groans from the 50% of the entrants who had taped the race and were waiting to get home to watch it !

Certainly fills me with pride to know, as an expat in Canada that GB has done so well. Especially as home has another gold and a bronze. So far Canada has zippo.
Wish I could have seen Nichole's win on TV - not shown over here. Have to console myself with the stills.
