So the Olympic equestrians take their horses out there; The Olympic cyclists take their bikes out there.
Do the Olympic sailers and rowers take their boats out there? (Just trying to imagine how you fit yachts into a jetplane, or are they shipped in which case that takes weeks so you'd need lots of yachts so you could still train, or are yachts much more standard-issue than cycles or horses so you just get to Beijing and are supplied with a yacht/scull/rowing boat.

No, the boats are supplied at the venue to make sure they're all exactly the same to make it as one-design as possible. Although all the classes are one-design anyway every sailor has their own little preferences in fittings and equipment so to make the competition fairer they get given boats for the week.

Local news is just reporting that the Lazers were made in Banbury...so they must ship those out if not the bigger boats.
