I would like to know the range of tyre pressures for a tandem I recently paid a cycle shop to replace my two tyres that had a maximum pressure of 90 psi. They are 27" x 1 1/4". The shop installed the same size, but with tyres with a maximum pressure of 65 psi. I do not think that is sufficent. Advice would be much appreciated.

Sorry, I don't really know, was this a shop that specialises in tandems?

The type of rim matters more than the tyre. If the inner edge is hooked stick 8 bar in them If not then above 6 gets a bit risky. 27" rims - if they're Wolber M58 Superchampion they'll hold any tyre at over 8 bar, the apparently identical Weinmann Concave will allow a blow-off at around 5 1/2. (1 bar = 15psi approx).
