I'm toying with the idea of switching my groupset from Shimano 105 to SRAM Rival (sshh, don't tell Mrs. Slowhand ). Does anybody use a SRAM groupset, anf if so, how do you find the Double-Tap shifting? Is it easy to get used to?
Any opinions gratefully received.

Buzz was waxing lyrical about the beauty of SRAM Red at the beginning of the year, maybe he'll give us a report on how he's been getting on with it, Unfortunately, we don't see too much of him of late, which is a shame. Maybe PM him so that he catches the thread when he shows up next.

I use a sram cassette and chain, no problems to report, very smooth and quiet. Rival groupset is cheaper and lighter than shimano ultegra so it is quite a decent upgrade and so easy to hide from mrs slowhand since you can fit a bit at a time without her knowing. It's amazing how quick a groupset can wear out when you see new toys. As for the double tap levers, I tried them for a short time on a friends bike and the shifting was simple, It took one hill to get used to them but the one thing I did like was on the way down the hill, when braking on the hoods there is no lateral movement in the levers which gives the impression of solid braking and you feel confident to put more pressure on. I would say a good upgrade to make!

i rode a sram force groupset once on a demo bike and i really like the double tap feature found it the most practical of all three main suppliers...

Buzz is back!
Reason I'm not on so much for now is that since I moved to Ireland I don't have broadband, apparently the local exchange gets it before the end of 2008 thank feck (as the local lingo goes!)
I was using record 3 years ago, it was fine until I broke the left hand lever when shifting up. After much soul-searching I changed to Dura ace, I liked it. You know you've shifted with the clunk campag makes, but now I've ridden Sram, Shimano was a bit too light on that score for me.
Sram sits between them both, not too light and not too noisy. The double tap is good, but I still forget about it sometimes usually on the way home after a long ride when I'm tired, and find myself going up a gear when I want to go down. The Sram has bedded in fine, needs no fettling and so far I've done 3000 miles on it with no problems at all.
