Cycling Weekly Sportive 2011

Cycling Weekly Sportive 2011

Over 900 riders took part in the inaugural Cycling Weekly Sportive on Sunday (October 9), taking in a selection of Surrey's finest roads and climbs.

Each of the three routes started and finished in Dorking, commencing with a climb of Box Hill - scene of the London 2012 Olympic Games road race. The longer 77 and 101-mile circuits also included Leith Hill, Pitch Hill and White Down.

Feedback from riders has been immensely positive, and Cycling Weekly is hoping to repeat the event next year. Watch this space.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who took part and to UK Cycling Events for doing all the hard work in putting the event on.

Am I going mad or was Box Hill near the end? Either that or I went the wrong way!

Great that the Cycling Weekly sportive was such a success - any chance that you might organise one next year north of Birmingham where the real hills start?

Brilliant sportive, challenging in places but overall thoroughly enjoyed it. Great signage, no body should have got lost on this one.
Only one downfall, as I signed on on the day my results aren't on the results sheet! Shame.

It was my first ever sportive and it was an amazing experience. i would say it was one of the hardest experience I ever had but one that is definitely memorable. the hill climbs are not the most pleasant but views are stunning and it made all the hardship worth it. I will definitely do this again.
