London 2012 Olympic Games, track day three evening session
The fastest women's track cycling team in the world are confident of achieving even more success in the future after being crowned Olympic champions.
Britain's team pursuit trio of Dani King, Joanna Rowsell and 20-year-old Laura Trott eased to a stunning victory in the gold-medal race against USA at London's Velodrome.
Led by 23-year-old Rowsell, the trio broke their own world record - set earlier in the Games - by crossing the line in a time of three minutes 14.051 seconds.
Their performance, which followed gold for the men's team 24 hours earlier, brought a packed Velodrome to its feet, with Beatle Sir Paul McCartney joining in singing the band's hit song Hey Jude as it belted out of the PA system in celebration.
"We want to go on and achieve more in the sport," said 21-year-old King. "We have become Olympic champions in our own country so it possibly can't get any better but we can try.
"We are already thinking about Rio and hopefully we will still be together."
Rowsell added: "This is the first time team pursuit has been in the Olympics so it is great for us to keep progressing the event and prove that it deserves Olympic status."
