We round up seven of the best sets of handlebar tape to see which comes out on top

It seems you get what you pay for when it comes to bar tape. While Lizard Skins bar tape had a lovely feel and was easy to apply, the extra tenner, making it the most expensive on test, drops it a point.

If it’s cheap and cheerful you’re after, don’t overlook the Deda Mistral. It’s up to the job and won?t break the bank.

The one that ticked all the boxes, though, was Pro’s Digital Carbon Smart Silicone. At a very reasonable £16.99, it was impossible to fault, making it the best of this carefully selected seven.

Feels great, but just won’t come clean. I’ve had the white and pink, but binned them off as they looked grubby after a few rides. In contrast, Deda Carbon effect tape in silver, gold and even white has proven durable and easy to clean over the course of several cyclo-cross seasons. With just a little effort and some washing up liquid, Deda Carbon comes up pristine
