EXCLUSIVE: SHIMANO 24 ENTRIES NOW OPEN
When the news of a 24-hour road race was announced back in November, word quickly spread through the road cycling community. This has to be one of the most hotly-anticipated events in the British calendar ever - and now entry for the event is officially open (entry form below).
The Shimano 24 Road Race takes place over July 12-13, 2008, on a closed circuit in the Sennybridge army training area, near Brecon, Powys, Wales. Organisers have already been inundated with requests for an entry form from eager riders - with only 250 team places available, you're going to have to be quick to get your form in to be in with a chance of taking part... and helping make road race history.
The rules are straightforward, and will be familiar to those who have taken part in 24-hour mountain bike races. Members of each five-rider team will compete around a 8.7-mile circuit - the team who complete the most circuits in the 24 hour period win the event. Full details of the event can be found at www.shimano24.com.
Entry for the event is £210 per team of five riders - you must be a member of British Cycling to take part in the event. Bronze British Cycling membership is available at the heavily discounted rate of £5 for entrants that do not have it. Full event rules can be found on the entry form (below).
