Hoy helicoptered in for opening ceremony

Sir Chris Hoy celebrates winning keirin final, Track World Championships 2012, day five

Sir Chris Hoy will be flown to London by helicopter on Friday ahead of his flagbearing duties in the opening ceremony.

The Scot is currently in the track team's holding camp in Newport, South Wales, staying in the Celtic Manor Hotel and training in Newport velodrome.

In order to lose no training time, and avoiding getting stuck in Friday M4 traffic, the British Olympic Association (BOA) has agreed to fly Sir Chris in to London.

Hoy was announced as the GB flagbearer earlier this week. As host nation, Team GB will be last into the main stadium at the end of the night that is said to have a few surprises up its sleeve.
