Well done Bradley - you've made us all very proud. It doesn't get any better: this is the greatest achievement ever by a British cyclist. We've waited so long for this moment and now the seemingly impossible is a reality.

Britain has won the Tour de France. It's still difficult to grasp the magnitude of Wiggins's achievement and I'm struggling with the superlatives to describe such an historic moment.

Bradley spoke daily of his difficulty to comprehend  his reign in yellow, how to articulate his achievement. But when he defeated his challenger first in the Alps, then the Pyrenees and pulverised them in both time trials, he dared believe it was possible to pull of bike racing's biggest prize.

As his confidence grew, he also became increasingly frustrated at fending off doping-related questions. It's natural that there is suspicion but believe me, our Bradley is clean. It's hard work that has brought him success.

"If I doped I would potentially stand to lose everything: my reputation, my livelihood, my family, my house. Everything I have achieved, my Olympic medals, my world titles, the CBE,: he said.

It's heartfelt and true. Bradley Wiggins is a champion we can all believe in. An inspiration for generations to come. We can't ask for more than that.
