We may be just days away from October but the sportive season is still far from over. This week's exclusive guide in Cycling Weekly magazine lists almost 30 events to enter in the next month alone.

The leaves are falling but that's certainly no reason to stop riding. Of course the highlight of the autumn calendar is obviously our very own event at Dorking on October 14. This Surrey market town has been a hotbed of cycling in recent months, featuring in the route for both the Olympic road races and the final stage of the Tour of Britain.

We also manage to include the major climbs for both events with assents of Box Hill for all distances and Leith Hill for the two longer rides. Last year's inaugural event attracted more than a 1,000 riders and having already exceeded this total, advance entry is advised to avoid disappointment on the day.

Expect to encounter a full office contingent plus the possibility of a surprise guest appearance. Full details at Cycling Weekly. Other leading events in the forthcoming weeks include the Wiggle New Forest 100 and Marie Curie Etape Pennines on October 7 plus the Exmoor Beast on October 28.

Another date to note is November 1, the day entries open for the Dragon Ride. Britain's only round of the UCI's Golden Bike series is certainly one of my favourite events, you have to try this Welsh classic at least once. But it sells out super fast, 4,000 places were snapped up in just two and a half hour of this years ride.
