Stuck indoors, starring out at the snow? There's no better time to start planning those summer rides. If you're looking for inspiration, the good news is that we've grown our own sportive series to include seven events around the country this year.
Encouraged by the success for our Dorking event last October and the Sandown promotion in April, we're pleased to have teamed up again with Boardman Bikes to expand the series to include events in Wiltshire, East Sussex, Devon, North Yorkshire and Worcestershire in addition to the two original promotions in Surrey.
CW and Boardman Bikes proved to be a winning partnership in 2012, particularly as Chris is a big fan of sportives. "We hope that everyone will be inspired to join us at our events and take up the challenge of a sportive in 2013," says the former Tour de France yellow jersey holder and Olympic champion.
With three distances for each event, starting at about 30 miles, there's certainly no excuse not to take the plunge. For more experienced riders there will be a mid-distance of about 70 miles and for the fittest, the Epic ride will usual be around 100 miles. Whatever the distance, expect traffic free lanes, stunning scenery and epic climbs in the standard and epic distances.
There's just six weeks to go until the series kicks off with the Wiltshire Wildcat Sportive at Salisbury Race Course on March 10 with three different routes covering 34, 62 or 80 miles.
