Spring is in the air

simon, richardson, cycling, weekly, deputy editor

Hoorah! Spring is here! Well, it was last weekend in the south-eastern part of the country. What is it about a bit of sunshine and wearing fewer layers of clothing that makes you feel so much faster and fitter than you actually are?

After several weeks of weather that had me reaching for the alarm clock snooze button on a Sunday morning, I managed a big ride this weekend, and I felt fantastic. Well, I did for the first couple of hours before the recent lack of activity came back to bite me.

It didn't matter, I was determined to make the most of the sunshine. It wasn't just the weather that made for a great ride. Most of the puddles had dried out and we could now see the potholes threatening to destroy our wheels rather than just praying they weren't there as we splashed through water that spread from one gutter to the other.

Trouble is, this morning's forecast predicted cold, cloudy conditions to return by the weekend. This makes it even more essential to get out on your bike each time the opportunity presents itself.

Now my weather report is over I've just got enough room to remind you that on those wet, cold days when you stay indoors, you can get your CW fix on your tablet device via Apple Newstand, Kindle Fire and Nook. Simply go to the app store and search for ‘Cycling Weekly'.

But if the sun is shining, you really should be out on your bike.
