Team Sky’s Pinarello is best Dogma yet

Few bike brands carry the burden of expectation quite as heavily as Pinarello. Since the reign of Miguel Indurain, right up until the present-day domination of Team Sky’s Brit superstars, this Italian bike brand has been a major player.

Thåçe launch of the new Dogma is no small matter. It’s the bike Chris Froome, Bradley Wiggins and the rest of the Sky team will be using in the Tour de France in a little over five weeks’ time. No pressure there then.

Make no mistake, this is a very big deal to all concerned.

The good news is that the new F8 is the best Dogma ever, as I found out when I was invited to ride the wonder bike in Italy last month. There’s obviously no way I could assess the climbing power but I can safely say that I have never ridden such a comfortable, stable pro team machine.

That was the plan. This is the most aero Dogma ever but Sky and Pinarello wanted no compromise on handling. Fausto Pinarello explained that Team Sky was looking to make more of their trademark marginal gains.

“It’s not an aero bike but a fast bike,” he says, and he’s right.
