Hot on the heels of an announcement that Halfords will continue its partnership with the brand fronted by the 1992 Olympic gold medallist for the next 10 years, Boardman released details of its 2014 Performance range.
In the Boardman hierarchy, the Performance range is sold exclusively by Halfords, whereas the more expensive Elite range is available via Boardman’s network of independent bike dealers.
The 2014 Performance range is made up of 25 models for road, mtb, cyclo-cross and leisure/commuting (hybrids) including four female-specific models.
The road range-topper is the Pro Carbon SLR, which with its new sub-kilo Toray T700 unidirectional carbon frame and complete 11-speed Ultegra groupset including the chainset and the wheels, wouldn’t look out of place in the rarefied atmosphere of the Elite range. At £1,799.99 this bike looks like super value for money.
The new Pro Carbon at £1,299.99 downspecs slightly with Shimano 105 and Mavic Aksium wheels, while for a penny under £1K you can still get a Boardman carbon bike – something that is becoming something of a tradition – in the shape of the Shimano Tiagra-equipped Team Carbon.
The Comp and the Sport complete the range as the aluminium entry-level drop-bar bikes at £699.99 and £499.99 respectively. For more details go to www.boardmanbikes.com and watch this space for tests of the new models.
