Cycling Weekly is counting down the top 30 British Riders of the Year thoughout December. The top 10 will be revealed in the December 19 issue of Cycling Weekly magazine.

Double junior world champion

Dannielle Khan emulated Becky James’s achievement by winning two gold medals at the junior World Track Championships this summer.

James, now a multiple senior world champion, won two junior titles in 2009 and Khan followed in the Welsh sprinter’s wheel tracks in Glasgow.

First Khan won the 500m time trial before winning the individual sprint competition, despite losing the first race of her final to Belgium’s Nicky Degrendele. The Solihull CC rider powered back to win two in a row. In the Keirin she added to her medal haul with second place.

For good measure, Khan won the 500m time trial and the sprint at the national championships too.
