Gary Coltman becomes Scottish head of performance

Gary Coltman, Scottish Cycling

Former road and mountain bike pro Gary Coltman has been appointed head of performance by Scottish Cycling last month.

Coltman was performance manager of British Cycling's Olympic Talent Programme and this job - a new position in SC - will see him "delivering success against their performance ambition to have Scottish riders achieving medals in major competition and creating world-class talent development systems".

In other words, trying to do what Sir Dave Brailsford has done at British Cycling. Coltman, who will split his time between his home in Leicester, SC headquarters in the Glasgow velodrome and being on the road, has only been in the post a few weeks.
