Hayman and Sutton extend with Sky

Chris Sutton wins, Vuelta a Espana 2011, stage two

Australians Mathew Hayman and Chris Sutton have signed new two-year contracts with the Sky team, it was announced by the squad on Friday.

Hayman won Paris-Bourges on Thursday, his first win since taking the Commonwealth Games road race title in 2006. Sutton won Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne in the spring, won stage two of the Vuelta a Espana in August and a stage of Circuit Franco-Belge last week.

"I am very much looking forward to the next two years and building on the start we have made," said Hayman via a Sky statement.

"The team is full of talented riders and part of my role is to help those guys get the most out of themselves, as well as myself.

Hayman hopes to make Sky's squads in the key cobbled classics and the Tour de France in 2012.

Sutton (pictured) said that riding for Sky was like being in a "big happy family".

"On the road we've also clicked a lot more this season that's been reflected with the number of race wins we've achieved," said Sutton. "We're only going to get better over the next few seasons as well and that's really exciting to be part of."

Earlier this week, Sky announced the signing of Danny Pate and Kanstantsin Siutsou from HTC-Highroad.

Vuelta a Espana sensation Chris Froome signed up a new three-year contract with Sky after placing second overall and winning a stage in the Spanish Grand Tour.

The squad has also signed up Sergio Luis Henao from Gobernacion de Antioquia, Luke Rowe from the Great Britain Academy, Salavatore Puccio from Menfi-AG and Richie Porte from Saxo Bank-Sungard for 2012.

Further Sky team announcements are expected next week.
