RideLondon-Surrey winner Adam Blythe heads up list of fastest times to ride up iconic Surrey climb

RideLondon-Surrey Classic winner Adam Blythe (NFTO) tops the list of fastest times taken to ride up the iconic Surrey climb of Box Hill this month, according to ride logging website Strava.

Blythe set his time during Sunday’s professional race, and indeed the top 10 of the Strava Box Hill KOM Challenge table is dominated by riders taking part in the event, including Russell Downing (NFTO) and Simon Yates (Orica-GreenEdge).

Despite being the fastest in the race and the quickest set so far this month, Blythe’s time up the 1.6-mile, 5 per cent average hill is well short of the quickest ever time ridden by the mysterious ‘JP’ on October 12, 2013. Blythe averaged 17.3mph on the ascent to set a time of 5-23, with JP hitting 20mph average and a time of 4-40.

Riders wishing to take part in the challenge have until August 24 to clock a time on the Strava segment ‘Box Hill (Zig Zag Rd)‘.

  • Peddler

The mysterious JP was up to something. Forty-three seconds ahead of the professional peloton? Don’t think so.

    • Pee Bee

You are making the assumption that the mysterious JP is not himself or herself a top ranking Professional cyclist. On the other hand he or she may have had the help of a sticky bottle or its contents!
