We look at what you can look forward to from the Amazon Black Friday bike deals

If your cycling wardrobe is looking a little tired, or you’re in need of a few new gadgets, then the Amazon Black Friday bike deals might be a good place to look, as the massive online retailer has made a huge effort to expand its cycling offering over the last couple of years.

Amazon Black Friday bike deals: when will they be available?

There might still be a few weeks to go until Black Friday 2016, but Amazon already has a page prepared for the big day, which might be pretty bland at the moment, but will be updated as the deals start to roll in.

While in previous years the biggest deals have been restricted to the big day itself, last year the big trend was for retailers to extend their deals over a couple of weeks, and Amazon was no different.

If things play out anything like they did last year, you will begin to see Amazon Black Friday bike deals from two weeks before Black Friday, so for 2016 that should mean that the deals will begin to land on 11 November.

Amazon Black Friday bike deals: what to expect?

Amazon might be the natural destination if you’re after lots of different pieces of kit, but if you’re a serious cyclist looking for serious cycling kit, then you might not give it a thought, going straight to specialist shops such as Wiggle or Chain Reaction

However, that might be a foolish move, particularly if you’re after cycling accessories, where there are some great deals to be had.

For example, for all the mountain bikers out there, you can currently pick up a SRAM GX 1400 crankset for £60.31, a huge discount from its £180 RRP. Similarly, the Abus Granit Power 58 lock has been reduced from £129.99 to just £79.73.

We should also look the sort of deals that were on offer to cyclists for Amazon Prime Day a few months ago. Back then there were big discounts on Garmin Edge computers (including a Garmin Edge 25 which was reduced to £84.99 from £139.99), and bike lights (such as this LE rechargeable LED lights set reduced to just £11.19 from £35.50).

Expect to see a similar sort of deal hitting Amazon for Black Friday, just hopefully more of them and with bigger discounts!

What is Black Friday?

For consumers and retailers in the UK, Black Friday is a recent phenomenon, but it has been going strong the United States for decades.

Black Friday is the first Friday after Thanksgiving (which in 2016 is 25 November), and is traditionally seen as the start of the Christmas shopping season, with high street retailers opening their doors at the crack of dawn and offering big discounts for shoppers who have set their alarm clocks.

The rise of internet shopping has allowed the Black Friday tradition to spread throughout the world, with the UK’s bike retailers like Wiggle, Chain Reaction Cycles, Evans Cycles, and Ribble Cycles all getting caught up in the scramble to get shoppers to part with their cash.
