Basingstoke residents offered chance to shape cycling strategy
Sustrans is drafted in to help Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council create a cycling strategy to encourage more people to ride in the area
Sustainable transport charity Sustrans has been commissioned to help create a cycling strategy for the Hampshire town of Basingstoke.
According to the Basingstoke Gazette, local cyclists are being offered the chance to give their feedback on the roads and crossings around the Basingstoke and Deane from April 1.
Participants will be able to suggest locations for new cycling routes and crossing facilities as the council look to produce a cycle route map of the borough as a way to promote cycling as a method of transport or for leisure.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council cabinet member for planning and infrastructure, Councillor Mark Ruffell, said: “Three quarters of all personal journeys are less than five miles long, that’s half an hour on a bike.
“By switching short journeys from car to bicycle, residents can benefit their health and community. We want to hear from cyclists so that we can develop an effective strategy for the borough.”
