One of Lizzie Armitstead's prizes for winning the World Championship road race is the opportunity to wear the rainbow stripes for the 2016 season.

Bioracer, which makes the kit for Armitstead's Dutch team Boels-Dolmans, tweeted yesterday its finished design for the Brit's new jersey and shorts and even threw in some rainbow socks for good measure.

Armitstead pipped season-long rivals Anna Van Der Breggen and Elisa Longo Bourghini to the line in Richmond on September 26, as well as the 2014 world champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot.

The World's win adds to Armitstead's UCI World Cup win in 2015, which she sealed with victory in the final race of the series at the GP Plouay-Bretagne in August.

The 26-year-old, who admitted she may retire after the 2016 season, also reclaimed the British Champion's jersey in the summer with a well-timed attack up the Michaelgate climb in Lincoln.

That jersey, though, will stay in the wardrobe this season as her new Bioracer rainbow stripes take precedence.
