WELSH Commonwealth Games rider Matt Brammeier, after a season with Team DFL, will be racing for Belgian squad Profel-Ziegler during the 2007 season.

Brammeier, 21, who was the national junior road race champion in 2003, rode for Wales in the points and scratch races in Melbourne, and also competed in the Tour of Siam and Tour of Langkawi as well as representing GB in the Tour of Britain stage race.

The Profel-Ziegler team, which is based near Mechelen, Belgium, is planning a full programme of major UCI races, while Brammeier will be returning to the UK to compete in some Premier Calendar events as well as the national road race championship.

Former Profel-Ziegler riders include top cyclo-cross rider Sven Nijs.
