British Cycling has announced the final list of GB riders taking part in the 2012 UCI Road World Championships in Limburg, Netherlands, over September 16-23.

There are no major surprises in the line-up, with a nine-man road race team that includes 2011 world champ Mark Cavendish, Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome. Jonathan Tiernan-Locke makes his GB road race debut on a course that could suit his climbing talents.

Alex Dowsett and Froome represent GB in the individial time trial. David Millar is absent from the list.

In the women’s road race, a super-strong squad includes former world champ Nicole Cooke, Lizzie Armitstead, Emma Pooley and British national champ Sharon Laws. The only obvious omission is Lucy Martin, who represented GB at the Olympic Games in July.

Pooley joins Wendy Houvenaghel in the women’s individual time trial. It’s Houvenaghel’s chance to shine in GB colours having missed out on making the final women’s team pursuit line-up at the Olympic Games.

The junior ranks are also well represented, with 2011 world champion Lucy Garner in the women’s road race and young climbing sensation Germain Burton in the men’s event.
