British riders dominated the qualifying rounds of the downhill discplines at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, currently taking place at Fort William in Scotland.

Rachel Atherton and Tracy Moseley qualified first and second fastest in the women’s elite event, with Richard Cunningham qualifying fastest in the junior men and Gee Atherton taking second spot in the elite men. British hope Steve Peat qualified in a cautious – and hopefully not unlucky -13th despite recently dislocating his foot.

The qualifying round determines the running order for Sunday’s downhill finals. You can watch free live coverage of the DH finals and Friday’s 4X finals on www.cyclingweekly.co.uk by clicking on this link.

Great Britain won its first medal of the championships on Thursday, when David Fletcher secured bronze in the Junior Men’s cross-country.
