Chris Froome will be joined by Paris-Nice winner Richie Porte in Spain where the Team Sky riders will be able to test their legs in the mountains

Chris Froome will lead Team Sky at th Volta a Catalunya as he makes his return from the illness that forced him to miss Tirreno-Adriatico.

The 2013 Tour de France winner will be the lone Brit in the Sky squad for the race that starts on Monday and is joined by Paris-Nice winner Richie Porte.

With all seven stages featuring challenging hills, the squad is packed out with climbers. Leopold Konig, Wout Poels and Vasil Kiryienka all competed at Tirreno, while Nicolas Roche competed with Porte in the Race to the Sun.

Froome will lock horns again with Alberto Contador, who he beat at the Ruta del Sol in February, as well as defending champion Joaquim Rodriguez, Alejandro Valverde, Rigoberto Uran and Fabio Aru.

Before the Volta kicks off, however, Ben Swift will be Sky’s sprinter at Milan-San Remo – a race where he finished third in 2014. Swift will be joined by fellow Brits Geraint Thomas, Ian Stannard, Luke Rowe and Andy Fenn.
