Rowe is the only rider to have won the race twice in its history, after his victory in 2009. Fabian Cancellara won it in 2002, so he’s in good company.

The 21-year-old added a stage win added a stage win of the Thüringen Rundfahrt in Germany later in the season and will turn professional for Team Sky in the new year.
