Three weeks before he defends his British Circuit Time Trial Championship title, Stuart Dangerfield (Science in showed the way home in round five of the Rudy Project Time Trial Series at Great Witley, Worcestershire, on Saturday.

Just days after returning from a nine-month stay in Australia, 36-year-old Dangerfield clocked 1-01-11 for the 27.4-mile course to win by almost a minute.

Runner-up Paul O?Mahoney (Ghyllside Cycles), currently second overall behind Gethin Butler, held off a late challenge from Richard Prebble (Pinarello RT), his 1-02-03 beating Prebble by just 22 seconds.

World Cup pursuit champion Wendy Houvenaghel (Science in had a 40-second winning margin in the women?s 13.4-mile event, clocking 32-14 to beat Julia Shaw?s (GS Strada) 32-54, while her team-mate Helen Carter finished in fourth to maintain her overall lead in the women?s series.
