Television presenter Davina McCall has added her name to the list of riders taking part in Action Medical Research’s Diva 100 fund-raising rides this May.

The three rides are open to women riders, and will take place in Sussex (May 13), Scotland (May 20) and Warwickshire (May 27). McCall will take part in the Sussex event.

“People may be used to seeing me on the telly but I can also be regularly spotted out and about on my bike,” said McCall. “Yes, believe it or not, I’m a dedicated convert to road cycling and I’m passionate about encouraging more women to take to the saddle.”

Each of the Diva 100 events offers two route distances – 100km and 50km. Both rides feature ‘plenty of rest stops’ and lunch. Entry costs £28 with a commitment to raise at least £50 in sponsorship.

All money raised will go to charity AMR, the children’s medical research charity. Last year’s inaugural event attracted 500 riders and raised £95,000, prompting the charity to expand the number of rides for 2012.

Full details of the rides and entry information can be found on Action Medical Research’s website.
