Eleven new riders join British Cycling Olympic Academy Programme for 2015

Under-23 time trial champion Scott Davies and recent Wiggle-Honda signing Anna Christian among the new recruits.

Eleven new riders have been included on British Cycling’s Olympic Academy Programme for 2014-2015, the national governing body announced today.

In total, there are 23 riders on the setup for the next 12 months, with National Under-23 time trial champion Scott Davies and recent Wiggle-Honda signing Anna Christian among the new recruits.

Quillan Isodore (BMX), Manon Lloyd, Emily Nelson (women’s endurance), Gabriel Cullaigh, Matt Gibson (men’s endurance), Ian Paton and Mike Thompson (mountain bike) have all graduated from the Olympic Development Programme to the next step on what BC describe as “the performance pathway.

Technical director Shane Sutton said: “British Cycling’s Olympic Academy Programme has a solid reputation of producing world-class champions and I believe the current intake will continue to deliver on this trend.

“I’m pleased to see a number of ODP graduates step up a level on the performance pathway, but equally it’s good to see some new faces in the mix – we are constantly striving for excellence and the door remains open for talented young cyclists across all disciplines.”

Possibly in a nod to the believed team Bradley Wiggins is setting up, Sutton added: “The women’s endurance Academy programme based in Newport, Wales, continues to grow in numbers as does the men’s and this will help accommodate the track and road ambitions of our riders and means we can offer more support to those who wish to focus purely on the road in their future years.”
