NATIONAL Trophy round one winner Ian Field might already be more focused on next year?s MTB World Championships, but he gave a timely reminder of his cyclo-cross form when he won today?s 10th round of the Notts and Derby League on the Trent Meadows Park course at Long Eaton.

After missing round two of the Trophy at Ipswich, the Trek-SiS rider returned to the fray in the first race to be promoted by the newly formed Velo Club Long Eaton, an amalgamation of Long Eaton CC and Long Eaton Paragon.

His team-mate Phil Dixon, the Trophy leader who scored a double in Midlands events last weekend, had to settle for third place this time as Field ? who is expected to be back for round three of the Trophy at Mallory Park – came in 41 seconds clear of first-year senior Steve Adams (Planet X) at the head of a big field of 88 for the main race.

New Scottish champion Ross Creber (Evans Cycles RT) claimed fourth place.

Proving that he?s game for anything, 2005 National Hill-Climb and Under-23 Road Race Champion Ben Greenwood took to the mud for Liverpool Century RC?s cyclo-cross on the city?s Otterspool Park course today.

The Recycling.co.uk professional battled his way to third place ? from a field of 60 starters ? behind winner Dave Haygarth (Wheelbase RT) and East Anglian visitor Nathan Miller (Ipswich BC). Haygarth fought his way back after mechnical trouble and went on to finish 55 seconds ahead of Miller, currently fifth in the Eastern Area League, as North West League leader Adrian Dalgleish (Lune RCC) was edged off the podium.
